Tour de france 2008.

We were lucky enough to be invited to watch the final stage of the Tour de France in Paris last weekend. The atmosphere was electric and it seemed that the whole of Europe had descended on the Champs Elysee on Sunday afternoon.
The weather was really hot which made the performance of the cyclists even more amazing - even after 80km the riders put in very fast laps (8 in total) of the Champs Elysee to wow the vociferous crowd.
The Champs Elysee actually rises quite dramatically so it really tests their endurance.
It really was a carnival on wheels as first the support vehicles came through (with some £40K of bikes on their roofs!) followed by the peloton which looked almost like one single organic entity.
Big thanks to Future Publishing for being such great hosts.
